چکیده

A magnetic resonance microscopy technique was developed to visualize and quantify the three-dimensional structure of snowpack. Because the NMR signal from the ice was very weak, we looked at the air space in the snow that was filled with dodecane doped with iron acetylaetonate. Four types of snow were tested: ice spheres, large rounded poly-crystals, small rounded mono-crystals and depth hoar crystals. Among these materials, the depth hoar crystals were the best for the test imaging, since they were sufficiently large and have anisotropic structures. A specific specimen-cooling system was developed to keep the temperature below 0 °C. In the experiments 0.5 to 2 hours were necessary to accumulate the signals enough to obtain a 3D micro-image; the image matrix 1283, voxel size 200 1Jlll3 or the image matrix 2563, voxel size 120 1Jlll3. The 3D structures of snow were investigated viewing from various angles and cross sections. Comparison with the 2D data using the conventional thin section method was also carried out and it was attested that the MR microscopy could be a powerful tool to reveal the microstructure of snowpack.

A New Three-Dimensional Sector Element for Circular Curved Structures Analysis

In this research paper, the formulation of a new three-dimensional sector element based on the strain approach is presented for plate bending problems and linear static analysis of circular structures. The proposed element has the three essential external degrees of freedom (Ur, Vθ and W) at each of the eight corner nodes. The displaceme...

سنتز گرافن سه بعدی و بهینه‌سازی مورفولوژی آن

Due to electrical properties (high electron mobility) and electrochemical characteristics (high electron transport rate), graphene-based  materials have been widely applied for various scientific fields. However, due to their two-dimensional  structures, these materials have low active sites for reaction. Therefore, changing from two-dimensional sheets dimensional to the three-dimensi...

Structural model for the mannose receptor family uncovered by electron microscopy of Endo180 and the mannose receptor.

The mannose receptor family comprises four members in mammals, Endo180 (CD280), DEC-205 (CD205), phospholipase A(2) receptor (PLA(2)R) and the mannose receptor (MR, CD206), whose extracellular portion contains a similar domain arrangement: an N-terminal cysteine-rich domain (CysR) followed by a single fibronectin type II domain (FNII) and 8-10 C-type lectin-like domains (CTLDs). These proteins ...

Automated segmentation of neuroanatomical structures in multispectral MR microscopy of the mouse brain.

We present the automated segmentation of magnetic resonance microscopy (MRM) images of the C57BL/6J mouse brain into 21 neuroanatomical structures, including the ventricular system, corpus callosum, hippocampus, caudate putamen, inferior colliculus, internal capsule, globus pallidus, and substantia nigra. The segmentation algorithm operates on multispectral, three-dimensional (3D) MR data acqui...
